Google has launched a novelty for its mobile Wallet – people can create passes with great simplicity. Launched at the I/O conference in May, this tool uses artificial intelligence to create detailed passes in digital form, thus doing away with the need for cumbersome PDF and multiple apps. The ‘Everything Else’ button sits take the place of the ‘Photo’ button which merely revealed barcodes or QR codes.

This update also allows users to generate numerous forms of digital passes; they are Identity cards, membership cards, and health insurance cards within a span of a few minutes. The feature is at this time available only in the US and works by asking the user consent to use Google AI to process the request. How an organization can create a digital version of a physical pass: users can scan a physical pass and input basic details, make changes as necessary, and confirm the final digital form of a pass.

Google has given an idea of how to use this feature in a textual breakdown which has been used in the initial rolling out of this feature. Of course, availability may be an issue somewhere down the road, but it does look like this update is going to offer a simpler way of handling our digital passes with Google Wallet making it a fixer for the app.

Once you’ve captured an image of the pass, Google will automatically extract the relevant details and allow you to review and modify key fields, or add custom information as needed. You’ll also have the option to categorize the pass into a specific type, such as:
